Navigation Bar
The navigation bar provides quick access to the main functional areas of GENTRAIN, as well as to essential features such as saving and importing the local database (the current application state) and switching the active pathogen.

Elements of the Navigation Bar
- Dashboard: Overview and visualization of all available data
- Ausbruchsanalyse: Dedicated module for analyzing outbreaks in detail
- Datenmanagement: Import of case, sequence, and contact data as well as data maintenance and storage settings
- Hilfe: Access to support information, tutorials, and documentation
On the right-hand side of the navigation bar, three key actions are available:
- Zustand importieren: Load a previously saved JSON file to restore your local working state.
- Zustand speichern: Export the current application state as a JSON file to back up your data.
- Pathogen-Auswahl: Choose the pathogen for which you wish to import and analyze data.
Using the Buttons
🗂️ Import State
- Click Zustand importieren:
- Select the previously exported JSON file.
- After a successful import, you will receive a confirmation message (toast), and the application will automatically load the imported data.
💾 Save State
- Click Zustand speichern:
- Your browser will download a JSON file containing the current local state.
Keep this file safe to restore your working environment later.
🧫 Switch Pathogen
- Click the Pathogen menu (on the right side of the navigation bar).
- Select the desired pathogen.
Error Cases & Tips

⚠️ Import failed:
Ensure that the selected file is a valid GENTRAIN export JSON.
If the issue persists, review the error message displayed in the application. -
📁 Lost export file:
Without a saved export file, your individual local state cannot be restored.
It is strongly recommended to back up your work regularly.
💡 Tip:
Regularly use the import and export functions to back up your work and continue seamlessly across different sessions.
