Welcome
Welcome to the official GENTRAIN documentation! đź‘‹
GENTRAIN is an innovative software solution for genetically based tracing of infection chains.
It was developed at the Universtitätsklinikum Düsseldorf as part of a research project commissioned by the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and funded by the European Union (NextGenerationEU).
The goal of GENTRAIN is to support public health authorities and research institutions in understanding infection chains, analyzing outbreaks more efficiently, and visualizing infection dynamics.
The application consists of three main components:
- 🧬 Dashboard – Visualizes genetic distances between cases as a Minimum Spanning Tree (MST).
- 🧠Outbreak Analysis – Provides tools for targeted outbreak analysis and automated report generation.
- 📂 Data Management – Enables importing, managing, and securely deleting case, sequence, and contact data.
The documentation is divided into three main sections:
- Application: How to use GENTRAIN as an end user.
- Development: Technical documentation covering architecture, data handling, APIs, and development guidelines.
- Administration: Guidance on deployment, configuration, user management, and operational maintenance.
We invite you to explore GENTRAIN – a modern, research-driven solution that advances digital infection control.
We hope you enjoy working with GENTRAIN!
